CUCKOO CLOCKS

This one day musical cuckoo clock has five beautiful hand-carved and hand-painted maple leaves. Flowers have been painted onto each maple leaf. The colored flowers in contrast to the wood case gives this cuckoo clock a unique and timeless look of the traditional maple leaf German cuckoo clocks. The pendulum is a maple leaf with the hand-painted leaves that matches the clock case.

A cuckoo bird is perched on the roof of the chalet. A smaller cuckoo bird hides behind a door near the perch. The action starts on the hour and half hour. At the hour, the cuckoo bird emerges from the swinging door to sing out the time with a song that is between one to twelve cuckoos – one cuckoo call for every hour. On the half hour, the cuckoo briefly appears to sing out one cuckoo call before disappearing back in its wooden nest. As the cuckoo call stops, dancers on the balcony begin their traditional folk dance to the tune of Edelweiss or The Happy Wanderer.

This cuckoo clock is manufactured by Harzer Uhrenfabrik Cuckoo Clocks in the Black Forest of Germany. This cuckoo clock is powered by a Regula 30 hour all brass clock movement which is made in the Black Forest of Germany. The clock features the traditional brass pinecone weights hanging beneath the clock on brass chains. The clock is wound by raising the weights beneath the clock on its brass chains. One brass pine cone weight powers the cuckoo and cuckoo call time, one weight powers the music and dancers while the other pinecone weight powers the time. The clock dial and hands are made of wood with roman numerals marking the time. The musical and cuckoo bird sounds can be turned on and off by a switch located at the base of the clock.

However, as with any hand-carved German cuckoo clock, the exact color and carvings may vary slightly. As with any hand created clock, it is the uniqueness of each piece that makes it a one of a kind heirloom timepiece.
