CUCKOO CLOCKS

For lovers of the German oompah bands, this cuckoo clock celebrates that uniquely German musical traditional. This chalet style clock has its own oompah band with the musicians turning from side to side as they play. Overhead dancers in traditional German costume revolve on a platform dancing along to music of the oompah band. Two traditional Germans songs alternate – Edelweiss or the Happy Wanderer. The handcrafted cuckoo bird begins the music and dancing by popping out to announce each hour and half hour. The cuckoo bird calls out one distant cuckoo sound for each hour of the day and one call on every half hour. After the cuckoo bird song is completed, the music and dancing start. The case of the clock is beautifully crafted in the chalet style and features a wooden clock face with roman numerals and hand-carved wooden shutters, flowers in window boxes, and a tree near the chalet.

A hand-carved pendulum hangs below the clock continuously swinging back and forth controlling the timing of the clock. This cuckoo clock is powered by a Regula 30 hour all brass clock movement which is made in the Black Forest of Germany. The clock features the traditional brass pinecone weights hanging beneath the clock on brass chains. The clock is wound by raising the weights beneath the clock on its brass chains. One brass pine cone weight powers the cuckoo and cuckoo call time, one pine cone weight powers the music and moving figures while the other pinecone weight powers the time. The clock dial and hands are made of wood with roman numerals marking the time. The musical and cuckoo bird sounds can be turned on and off by a switch located at the base of the clock.
