CUCKOO CLOCKS

Hand-carved and hand-painted dancers in traditional German costumes make this cuckoo clock spring alive on every hour and half hour. The action begins with the hand-carved and hand-painted cuckoo bird emerging to call out the time – one distinct call for each hour of the day and once on every half hour. As soon as the cuckoo bird has ended his song, the dancers begin their show as they revolve around a platform dancing to alternating German folk songs, Edelweiss or The Happy Wanderer. To complete the beauty of this clock, the face has been hand-painted with the wild flowers native to Germany to accent the chalet style cases.

A hand-carved pendulum hangs below the clock continuously swinging back and forth controlling the timing of the clock. This cuckoo clock is powered by a Regula 30 hour all brass clock movement which is made in the Black Forest of Germany. The clock features the traditional brass pinecone weights hanging beneath the clock on brass chains. The clock is wound by raising the weights beneath the clock on its brass chains. One brass pine cone weight powers the cuckoo and cuckoo call time, one pine cone weight powers the music and moving figures while the other pinecone weight powers the time. The clock dial and hands are made of wood with roman numerals marking the time. The musical and cuckoo bird sounds can be turned on and off by a switch located at the base of the clock.

As with any hand created clock, it is the uniqueness of each piece that makes it a one of a kind heirloom timepiece.
