CUCKOO CLOCKS

This eight day musical chalet features a volksmarcher and a small St. Bernard dog at the base of the clock. This clock highlights volksmarching - a traditional recreational German activity where participants typically walk 10 kilometers. The clock case also features two hand-carved trees on either side of the clock case, and a small pile of hand carved logs on the right hand side of the case. Hand-painted flowers adorn the base of the clock and the chalet.

The cuckoo bird is behind a small door under the chalet roof. At the top of each hour and on the half hour, the cuckoo bird emerges to sing out its song. The cuckoo bird sounds out one distinct cuckoo sound for each hour of the day as well as one call on each half hour. As the cuckoo bird ends it song, the volksmarcher continues his hike moving his staff up as he walks along the path to the sounds of traditional German folk music.

This clock is powered by a quartz movement. The hand-carved maple leaf pendulum that hangs below the clock continuously swings back and forth. The cuckoo, music and time are controlled by the battery powered quartz movement.
