Eight Day Musical Cuckoo Clock with Dancers - Woman Rings Bell and Waterwheel Turns - 13 Inches Tall This exquisite eight day musical German cuckoo clock has a charming country scene that is both colorful and intricate in the hand-carved and hand-painted details. Flowers form a garden in the yard and surround the waterwheel as well as adorn the window boxes and the railing of the balcony. Hand-carved trees complete the look of a cottage in the Bavarian forest. A woman bell ringer holds the rope that rings the bell hanging on the roof of the chalet. She stands ready to announce the top of each hour.
At the top of each hour and on the half hour, the cuckoo bird pops out of its hiding spot and calls out the time, one distinct call for each hour of the day and one call for each half hour.
On the top of every hour, the action sequence begins. The water wheel starts to revolve as the bell ringer pulls on the bell rope. On the top of every hour a German folk tune begins to play alternating between Edelweiss or The Happy Wanderer. As the music plays the dancers complete the scene as they revolve around the balcony.
A beautifully hand-painted pendulum hangs below the clock continuously swinging back and forth controlling the timing of the clock. This cuckoo clock is powered by a Regula 30 hour all brass clock movement which is made in the Black Forest of Germany. The clock features the traditional brass pinecone weights hanging beneath the clock on brass chains. The clock is wound by raising the weights beneath the clock on its brass chains. One brass pine cone weight powers the cuckoo and cuckoo call time, one pine cone weight powers the music and moving figures while the other pinecone weight powers the time. The clock dial and hands are made of wood with roman numerals marking the time. The musical and cuckoo bird sounds can be turned on and off by a switch located at the base of the clock.
