CUCKOO CLOCKS

This intricately carved detailed eight day musical chalet cuckoo clock shows a beautiful country scene. The action occurs against the backdrop of a shingled carved chalet decorated with hand-painted flowers. Dancers are on the upper balcony waiting for the German folk tunes to begin. A wagoneer pauses as he and his horse move his load of timber through the Bavarian Forest. This scene springs to life on the top of every hour.
At the top of each hour and on the half hour, the cuckoo bird pops out of its hiding spot in the rafters and calls out the time, one distinct call for each hour of the day and one call for each half hour. On the top of every hour, a German folk tune begins to play alternating between two traditional German folk tunes Edelweiss or The Happy Wanderer. With the start of the music, the dancers overhead on the balcony begin to move in time dancing to the German tunes. At the same time the wagoneer starts up his journey again spurring his horse up the through the forest terrain.

A hand-carved pendulum hangs below the clock continuously swinging back and forth controlling the timing of the clock. This cuckoo clock is powered by a Regula 30 hour all brass clock movement which is made in the Black Forest of Germany. The clock features the traditional brass pinecone weights hanging beneath the clock on brass chains. The clock is wound by raising the weights beneath the clock on its brass chains. One brass pine cone weight powers the cuckoo and cuckoo call time, one pine cone weight powers the music and moving figures while the other pinecone weight powers the time. The clock dial and hands are made of wood with roman numerals marking the time. The musical and cuckoo bird sounds can be turned on and off by a switch located at the base of the clock.

However, as with any hand-carved German cuckoo clock, the exact color and carvings may vary slightly. As with any hand created clock, it is the uniqueness of each piece that makes it a one of a kind heirloom timepiece.
