Eight Day Musical Chalet Cuckoo Clock with Dancers - Farrier pounds Anvil and Waterwheel Turns - 15 Inches Tall
This classic chalet style German cuckoo clock shows a traditional cottage styled in the tradition of the Bavarian Black Forest. The chalet is decorated with hand-painted hand-carved flowers. In front of the chalet, hand-carve and hand-painted waterwheel, horse, tools and a tree complete the scene. A blacksmith is at his anvil ready to work. On the balcony overhead traditionally dressed dancers are ready to dance to alternating German folk tunes Edelweiss or The Happy Wanderer.
The cuckoo bird pops out of its nest high among the rafters at the top of the hour and half hour. He sings out his song, one distinct call for every hour of the day and one call on every half hour. At the top of the hour when the cuckoo bird song is done, the blacksmith begins to hammer at his anvil as the dancer circle and spin overhead on the chalet balcony.
A hand-carved pendulum hangs below the clock continuously swinging back and forth controlling the timing of the clock. This cuckoo clock is powered by a Regula 30 hour all brass clock movement which is made in the Black Forest of Germany. The clock features the traditional brass pinecone weights hanging beneath the clock on brass chains. The clock is wound by raising the weights beneath the clock on its brass chains. One brass pine cone weight powers the cuckoo and cuckoo call time, one pine cone weight powers the music and moving figures while the other pinecone weight powers the time. The clock dial and hands are made of wood with roman numerals marking the time. The musical and cuckoo bird sounds can be turned on and off by a switch located at the base of the clock.
